An exciting opportunity has arisen to meet the growing portfolio of transport planning projects within one of the UK’s leading independent consultancies. Our client is a specialist design practice with an integrated approach supporting their clients on projects from conception, through consent and during construction.
They are looking for an Associate/Technical Director to join & lead their London office. You’ll be joining a consultancy who provide full Transport Planning services from inception and feasibility through to planning, post-permission, and detailed design.
Working with everyone from developers to local planning authorities, they span the public and private sectors. Their projects range in scale from single-unit developments through to large-scale town centre regeneration and urban extensions. Their work includes Transport Assessments, Transport Planning, Travel Planning, Accessibility Planning, Transport Modelling, and Safety Audits.

The role
- Leading business development efforts and proposal development
- Managing key client relationships
- Providing guidance and work to team members across various disciplines
- Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
- Supporting sector and client leads with strategic initiatives
What you need to succeed
- You will have proven experience working in a Transport Planning consultancy and be comfortable presenting ideas and project work to Clients
- You will be a Chartered Transport Planning Professional or Chartered Engineer certified by the Engineering Council
- You will have strong practical knowledge of Linsig, Junctions 9 and preferably experience of using TRACC/similar
- You will have a strong understanding of relevant local and national policy and guidance.
- Organised and methodical with particular attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Have a pragmatic approach and possess strong problem-solving techniques
- Strong business development skills with the ability to win work and maintain client relationships
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in consultancy or contracting environments
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Membership with ICE or similar professional body
- Full, valid UK driving licence
- Experience in procurement and technical specification writing
