Associate Civil Engineer

Our client is looking for a Leader in their Civil Engineering Team in their head office in Manchester City Centre.

The role involves the design of both highways and drainage, the greater emphasis is on the drainage design; as this forms a greater proportion of their day work.

The role:

  • Supervising multiple projects, ensuring compliances with standards, time delivery of information and quality of our information is efficiently and effectively working.
  • Resource planning for their team (on all projects the team is delivering) and assessing resource requirements from other teams that may be needed.
  • Leading and making sure the team is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Be willing to assist other teams with resource support when they can, this may mean re-planning less urgent task on their own projects to accommodate more urgent task on other team’s projects.
  • Attend the resources meetings and make a positive, constructive contribution.
  • For each project being delivered by their team, understand the fees, drawdown, basis of appointment and assist with negotiation of services to be provided and overall design responsibility.
  • Review and approve their team’s timesheets, each week and at month end.
  • Review and approve their team’s holiday request, ensuring that resource bottle necks are avoided where possible, and annual leave is planned appropriately.
  • Ensure regular team meetings are held and all individuals are communicating effectively. Brief teams on tasks ensuring that the correct skills, training and tools are upheld to complete team’s tasks and communicate with your line manager any issues.
  • Responsible for carrying out appraisals for team, dedicating time to each individual and creating constructive professional development. Check regularly with their team to make sure that the objectives are relevant, and progress is being made.
  • Acknowledge team members limitations but be aware of individual performance. Engage with performance management processes as required.
  • Familiarise oneself with company policies and advise team as necessary.
  • Create a positive atmosphere and lead by example for team members. Form good relations with clients and staff
