Associate Director

Our client is a leading international multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, providing sustainable solutions to meet the planning, engineering design and project delivery needs of the property, infrastructure, energy, and environmental markets. They are appointed on several interesting and high-profile infrastructure projects and have a strong secured future workload.

To ensure the continued success of the infrastructure team they seek an experienced Chartered Engineer at Associate level to help drive the team forward.

The role in the Southampton, (or London) office is for someone with the drive and ambition to help develop an already thriving Infrastructure sector and will involve ensuring technical quality and content prior to issuing to the client by supervising and mentoring the supporting team.

In addition, you will support when required, the Regional Director and national service requirements to enhance the business development and section sustainability.

You will have the desire to help lead the current team, get involved in both current projects and also have an input into Business Development, getting the support to bring in further work within the existing business streams or grow a new stream and become the Specialist Lead for that line of work.

Current projects include Developer led schemes, National Highways work, Mixed use schemes, Green Routes, Film Studio extensions, huge regeneration schemes around the London area (Meridian Water, Canada Water, Tottenham & Purfleet), to name but a few.

The role is initially at Associate Director level, but there is the ability to develop into a Technical Director role.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate qualification and good experience in the following areas:

  • Educated to a minimum Degree level in Civil Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Chartered Engineer status with relevant professional institution;
  • Experience in managing and leading client relationships, reporting on progress and managing work within budget and to programme;
  • Previously involved and happy to continue Business Development
  • Able to check and sign off technical design work
  • Experience in the planning, design and construction of residential, commercial and industrial developments from conception to technical approval;
  • Leading on a range of projects or acting as technical discipline lead for larger projects
  • Experience in working in collaborative teams with clients, contractors, external design team members, local authorities, statutory bodies and other third parties;
  • Leading and mentoring a small team of engineers and technicians located in the local office or other offices across the country.
  • Experience of working within project teams and supervising team members, including mentoring junior staff to become Chartered;
  • Design and specification of civils drainage, earthworks and / or highways;
  • An understanding of service utilities, drainage and external works design and modelling;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports on technical matters;
  • Use of technical design tools such as MicroDrainage, Civils 3D and AutoCAD, or equivalents.
