We have the requirement for an Associate Director to manage and progress our clients award winning Water department in their London office. The role we are looking to fill will be “Associate Director – Water Resource”.
This is an exciting position where you can join a consultancy whose services stem from ‘cloud to coast’, including water resource management, river engineering, flood risk management, and coastal and maritime engineering.
As a team they work across all stages of design, from master planning through to detailed design, on UK and international projects. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with multiple disciplines, architects, planners, and environmental specialists, on sites that are universally exciting and valued by people.
The ideal candidate will bring delivery experience of emerging water resource requirements, including, but not be limited to, Water Neutrality, Nutrient Neutrality, and Water Scarcity. We are also looking for someone with prior experience of owning and developing a strong UK client base and helping us grow the group as our technical skills and client base develop.
The primary focus of this appointment will be the development of our water resource management capability. The successful candidate will have experience of water neutrality, water scarcity, and water balance delivery. Nutrient neutrality and WFD assessments will be an advantage. A wider understanding of the water industry, including flood risk management, will also be advantageous.

The role
- Actively seeking out and securing new projects which will lead to profitable work.
- To be able to productively maintain relationships with key clients to make sure that sustainable levels of new and repeat business are achieved.
- Taking ownership of key client and collaborator relationships as required
- Taking an active role in day-to-day pastoral care and mentorship of your team at all levels, where appropriate.
- Maintaining and developing the highest standards of technical quality, continuously seeking to develop the discipline through innovation and creativity.
- Actively supporting the best commercial practice on our projects, identifying risk and proactively engaging with mitigation.
- Developing our technical skills in Water Resource Management, creating new service offers around water neutrality, nutrient neutrality, water scarcity, and water strategies.
- You will be expected to develop their current & future UK client base based on new technical service offers.
- Growing the current team to include more technical specialists as their technical skills and client base develop.
- Acting as an internal and external figurehead for Design and Technical leadership for their water resource management.
What you need to succeed
- Degree educated in a relevant discipline.
- Experienced technical and commercial leader in the Water discipline, with a track record of exceptional delivery over a sustained period within the industry.
- A recognisable profile of thought leadership in the Water industry.
- Ideally, you will have an existing industry network of collaborators and clients.
- International project experience would be a significant advantage.
- Clear track record in business development and client retention.
