We have an opening for a skilled Civil Engineer to join an award-winning consultancy in their Dorset office. The role would focus on providing drainage and highway infrastructure design on all types and sizes of new development, supporting and collaborating with project managers from across the business to meet the needs and expectations of their clients.

The role
- Develop technical highway and drainage designs to support S104, S38 and S278 applications.
- Undertake a variety of technical assessments for new developments.
Explain technical concepts to others including more junior colleagues and clients
- Provide updates on the progress of tasks in line with programmes.
- Write reports and liaise with Clients / Project Managers on the management and co-ordination of projects.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, innovations, and best practices in infrastructure engineering and construction.
- Check technical outputs, drawings and reports produced by junior staff.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
- Manage projects with moderate supervision ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to an excellent standard.
What you need to succeed
- A degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in UK development-related infrastructure engineering.
- Have a good understanding of AutoCAD and Civils 3D, and be able to undertake 3D designs of residential housing schemes.
- A full UK driving license, as the role may require you to visit sites only accessible by car.
- Demonstrate suitable knowledge of relevant design standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewerage Sector Guidance, local road standards and relevant national planning policy.
- Be experienced in the preparation of highways and drainage design and in particular S38, S278 and S104 processes
- Knowledge and application of drainage design from first principles and capable in the use of Causeway flow software.
- Have experience in writing flood risk assessments or drainage strategy reports for development projects.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
