Civil Engineer

Our clients Infrastructure team specialises in providing sustainable development infrastructure solutions to a mix of commercial, retail, industrial, energy, education and residential sector clients in Scotland.  The team also works closely with other Fairhurst disciplines and offices to provide integrated solutions on larger multidisciplinary projects.

The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies working on infrastructure schemes throughout the UK.

The role:

  • Preparation of site appraisals
  • Undertake feasibility and pre-planning assessments of engineering infrastructure
  • Peer review of documents, designs and drawings completed by other team members to ensure consistent high quality and compliance with design standards, industry best practice, contractual obligations and client expectations
  • Liaison with clients, regulators and other stakeholders
  • Attendance at design meetings, site meetings and undertaking site inspections.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in full compliance with the Company’s Quality Management System
  • Provide technical guidance, support and training to junior colleagues and assist, where practicable, in mentoring and development of others
  • To work in both supervised and unsupervised environments ensuring that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and carried out in accordance within agreed timescales and within agreed budgets
  • Report to the appropriate team leader on technical issues associated with project work
  • To be able to work in close collaboration with team members and other disciplines and have an appreciation of their role
  • Production of CAD and 3D modelling in conjunction with other Project Engineers / Technicians
  • Quality Control for CAD and 3D modelling production
  • Outputs to company CAD standards as well as comply with project and BIM protocols;
  • Undertaking other tasks as delegated by Project Engineers/Managers
  • To adhere to the company’s Health and Safety Policy

What you need to succeed:

  • BSc, BEng or MEng Degree in Civil Engineering + 5 years post graduate experience and/or HND or HNC in Civil Engineering + 8 years experience
  • EngTech membership of an appropriate professional body (desirable) i.e Institution of Civil Engineers or the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation
