Our client provides an award-winning design and detailing service for a wide range of clients and schemes both locally and nationally. They have a diverse portfolio includes multi-storey residential blocks, new housing schemes, schools and commercial developments ranging from small individual projects up to multi-million-pound schemes. They’re looking to expand their Dorset team with a Civil Engineer to join their infrastructure team.

The role
- Support the design of civil engineering schemes from initial concept to detailed design, including design of roads, drainage, earthworks, and other infrastructure elements. Ensure designs are technically sound, cost effective and meet client requirements.
- Produce clear, well-presented designs, drawings, reports, specifications and other engineering documentation and proactively ensure they meet internal quality standards and industry regulations/standards.
- Assist with client meetings and presentations, providing technical insight and engineering that client expectations are met throughout a project lifecycle.
- Work closely with other engineers, technicians and project leads to coordinate design activities, resolve technical design issues and ensure timely project delivery.
- Conduct site visits as required to monitor progress and carry our surveys to obtain site information for design.
- Undertake detailed design, prepare calculations and reports, and conduct assessments in accordance with relevant codes and standards. Use appropriate software to create design models, drawings and documentation.
- Assist in managing the technical aspects of a project, including liaising with clients, contractors and other stakeholders, and ensuring designs are delivered on time and within budget.
What you need to succeed
- To be degree qualified and working towards Chartership
- To have experience in AutoCAD (including Vehicle Tracking) – for drafting and detailing, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, PDS
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other industry recognised design software
- Full clean driving licence
- Proactive, self-motivated and desire to take on responsibility
- Ability to work independently, and/or part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Understanding of civil engineering principles, design codes and standards, including those related to highways, drainage, flood risk and utilities
- Knowledge of the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations
