We have an opening for Civil Engineer to join a reputable medium sized consultancy within their Bristol office. The role would focus on providing drainage and highway infrastructure design on all types and sizes of new development, supporting and collaborating with project managers from across the business to meet the needs and expectations of our clients.

The role
- Develop technical highway and drainage designs to support S104, S38 and S278 applications.
- Undertake a variety of technical assessments for new developments.
- Explain technical concepts to others including more junior colleagues and clients.
- Check technical outputs, drawings and reports produced by junior staff.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
- Manage projects with moderate supervision ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to an excellent standard.
- Provide updates on the progress of tasks in line with programmes.
- Write reports and liaise with Clients / Project Managers on the management and co-ordination of projects.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, innovations, and best practices in infrastructure engineering and construction.
What you need to succeed
- A degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in UK development-related infrastructure engineering.
- Demonstrate suitable knowledge of relevant design standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption, local road standards and relevant national planning policy.
- Be experienced in the preparation of highways and drainage design and in particular S38, S278 and S104 processes.
- Knowledge and application of drainage design from first principles and experience in the use of Microdrainage and/or Causeway flow software.
- Have experience in writing flood risk assessments or drainage strategies for development projects.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams and welcome competence in Power BI and Access).
- Have basic skills or a good understanding of AutoCAD and Civils 3D.
- A full UK driving license is required
