We are currently looking for a highly motivated Engineer/Senior Engineer to join our clients expanding team in Manchester. You can expect to work on predominantly large residential developments, with some industrial, commercial and energy schemes.
You’ll be joining a leading employee-owned design consultancy who deliver projects from initial feasibility stage, through planning and detail design and to construction stage. The team you’ll join are specialists in drainage, highways and development infrastructure, working closely with the Transport and Flood Risk teams.

The role
- You’ll be developing Concept and Detailed Drainage Strategies, Levels Strategies and Earthwork Appraisals.
- You’ll be required to produce Planning Documents such as Flood Risk Assessments/Drainage Technical Notes and Utilities Statements & be able to undertake Due Diligence reviews to support the purchase of land.
- Day to day tasks will include detailed design and construction drawings & securing technical approval for S104, S38, S278 etc.
- Provide the lead Principal or Senior Engineer with general design work and technical support across a range of different projects and carry out work in accordance with allocated budget and within agreed timescales to meet project deadlines’.
- Guide and support junior members of the team, delegate and check work, ensuring deadlines are met and high-quality drawings and designs are delivered.
- Checking drawing packages and calculations and ensuring they meet the required design standards and company QA policies.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders, preparing of fee proposals, taking responsibility for financial control of projects, and undertaking business development.
- The role will include the following design tasks, some of which you will delegate to junior staff.
What you need to succeed
- The drive to learn and develop themselves, working alongside others within a Team is essential and the candidate should possess excellent communication skills.
- A sound technical ability and understanding of relevant documents such as Sewer Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, DMRB and Ciria C753.
- Experience in working for a consultancy on development schemes, particularly residential would be favourable.
- Ability to use MicroDrainage/Flow and AutoCad at an advanced level is essential, and an understanding of Civils 3D/Site 3D would be beneficial.
- Experience in pre-planning and planning stage projects as well as a good understanding of detail design and technical approval (S104, S38, S278, etc) is required.
