We have an opening for talented individual to join a reputable and leading developer within their South Wales office. The Engineering Manager will manage a team of Engineering Consultants to deliver projects, from initial site identification through to project completion.
You will procure working drawings and associated information for various adoption agreements whilst also managing all external consultants in the production of site design drawings – including the negotiation and submission of the drawings to the appropriate authorities for speedy and satisfactory approvals.

The role
- Lead the coordination of production information for nominated sites to a written programme to ensure a controlled and cost-effective finish to the sites.
- Establish and enforce quality and standards in schemes, to maintain the good image of the company.
- Comply with all responsibilities as defined in the Group’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the Engineering team.
- Always ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and instructions.
- Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving contribution to the organisation’s goals and enhancing the reputation of the company.
- Provide support to the Principal Designer to ensure full compliance with the Construction (Design & Management) regulations.
- Effectively manage the Engineering Design Team (both internally and externally) to ensure that the required level of proactive and professional service is provided to enable other departments to fulfil their role.
- Lead, motivate, develop, appraise and performance manage the Engineering Team to ensure that they are fully motivated to achieve best performance and meet the company’s needs.
- Ensure that schemes are produced within required time limits to suit programme deadlines, considering external factors such as local authority planning and highways, drainage undertakers, drainage boards, service companies, local committees, action groups, resident issues, etc.
- Attend meetings where needed to support the delivery of projects and Engineering Consultants in the fulfilment of their duties.
- Assess future potential developments and produce detailed technical reports following site visits with appropriate members of the management team to ensure the best cost engineered solution is proposed
- for the land.
- Produce engineering site feasibilities as instructed by the Land department, by liaising with Heads of Department and external authorities and agencies to ensure compliance with the required standards and business need. This will include assessments of infrastructure, foundations, retaining walls, under build, cut and fill, etc.
- Encourage feedback from site teams at all points of the build to improve the design and implementation of future schemes to avoid wastage and improve the engineered solutions.
