The role

There may be some site work, mostly desk work though, building GIS models, liaising with different leads, 3rd party information, ongoing maintenance and updates etc. Overall day to day, majority would be creating and updating GIS models.
• The right person doesn’t have to have a ground engineering background, but needs to know how to use the software, a lot of the work they will be doing involves ground engineering, but also much wider use – this team have used the software to design things like cable routes, so while it sits with ground engineering, its not specifically use only for ground engineering and we would welcome anyone with experience using this software.
• Projects using GIS projects are big power FEED projects (concept design stage, usually earlier on in the conception design stage).
• They will be responsible for mapping information depending on the project and input from engineers. Mapping environmental constrains, water courses, areas of outstanding beauty, max length of underground sections etc. hence needing to have some understanding of engineering.
• They will be building the GIS model from scratch, involving all elements, to help come up with the overall engineering solution.

What you need to succeed

• Must have experience in navigating through both QGIS and ArcGIS.
• Experience using QGIS and ArcGIS building GIS models from scratch.
