Principal Civil Engineer

Our client is a long established, international and award-winning multi-disciplinary consultancy with ambitious plans for further growth. We are looking for a self-motivated infrastructure designer with an eye for detail, and proven design and technical skills, to take a leading role in our civil engineering offering.

As a Principal Engineer you should be an Incorporated or Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE) (or very close to achieving this) with significant project experience working within the UK planning and highway/drainage authority with developing or emerging client-facing skills.

The role

  • Your experience so far will mean you have developed strong working relationships with multiple local authorities and drainage authorities and be able to draw on these in your daily role.
  • Good in-person and verbal communication skills and a willingness to attend construction sites and meetings will help you react to design changes and produce efficient, practical solutions.
  • You would also have started to prioritise and develop client relationships which bring in potential project opportunities in your areas of expertise

What you need to succeed

  • A broad ranging capability, experience and skills in the design of drainage (including SuDS), highways, infrastructure and external works at the concept, planning, preliminary design, technical approval and construction phases of contract implementation.
  • A high level of proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microdrainage is essential. As industry leaders in BIM, evolving Navisworks skills are also essential with a willingness to develop further knowledge and leadership in these skills.
  • A full driving licence is a requirement.
