We have an opening for a Principal Infrastructure Drainage Engineer to join our clients busy London office on a full-time hybrid basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small Civils team aiming to expand their talent for 2026.
This client works on a variety of project types and sizes during both the planning and detailed design stages which include schools, renewable energy installations, commercial, large residential schemes, and smaller scale developments. With the requirement to provide SuDs on these schemes and address flood risk, they work with clients and the design team to incorporate the most practicable SuDs types.
We are ideally looking for someone with 6+ years’ experience in UK based projects, you’ll be joining a team who have significant experience of managing big and complex projects. There is the opportunity for autonomy, ownership, responsibility and a hands-on approach from yourself with support available from experienced Directors who enjoy coaching and mentoring others.

The role
- Assisting in securing new projects opportunities and clients through business development activities
- Communicate and liaise both internally and externally with clients, SuDs approval bodies and drainage adoption authorities to achieve the best outcome for clients
- Manage challenging project budgets and assist with invoicing
- Contribute to knowledge sharing to the design team through mentoring, presentations and informal training sessions
- To be able to produce Flood Risk Assessments, outline and detailed drainage strategies, sewer adoption packages and provide flooding and drainage advice to clients with the support of the design team
What you need to succeed
- To have a Civil Engineering degree and progression towards achieving Chartered status (ICE or CIWEM).
- Experience in production of bids & management of project budgets and deadlines
- Prior experience in national and local policies relating to flood risk
- To have experience in preparation of Flood Risk Assessments & principles of drainage design and associated design standards, including SuDs.
- To be able to assist & mentor junior staff members
- You must have experience in drainage adoption process and design standards - with the ability to manage the submission and gain technical approval of drainage adoption packages
- To be a competent user in Causeway Flow or Microdrainage
