The role
- Supporting junior members of the team to learn and deliver projects collaboratively
- Helping develops multi-modal access strategies and designs for all kinds of developments and public sector transport projects
- Develop initial concept / feasibility studies for large masterplan sites
- Undertaking technical assessments and analysis across a wide range of transport related subjects
- Preparing technical notes and reports, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Delivery and Service Plans and other assessments
- Playing an active role in the transport related aspects of building and development design
- Attending meetings with clients, architects and planning authorities
What you need to succeed
- At least 6 years’ experience working in in the transport planning field
- Knowledge of the planning system and transport-related matters, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Environmental Statements
- A practical knowledge of relevant cycling/walking design standards, highway standards and building design guidelines
- Experience of using tools to design elements of the built environment, preferably AutoCAD and other associated Autodesk design software (such as AutoTrack) desirable
- Experience of preparing robust, visually engaging supporting material using a range of graphics software
- Good writing and numeracy skills
- An understanding and skills in pedestrian and highway capacity modelling, preferably some use of PICADY, ARCADY, LinSIG
- Interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients, key stakeholders and contractors
- Accuracy and attention to detail with ability to work within deadlines
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, including Excel
