Technical Director

We are seeking a Technical Director who will be very much embedded within the regional market with a focus on client facing activities, business growth, market strategy and technical leadership, rather than day-to-day operational management and will play an integral part in supporting the initiative to diversify our team, both in staff numbers and revenue.

As the Technical Director, you will be supporting the Development team, and specialising in development and transport planning, civil infrastructure design, and development & infrastructure delivery.

The role:

  • Identifying and pursuing new business development opportunities, leveraging your network of clients and co professionals to help win work and increase market share for the Development team.
  • Liaising with the Regional Director for Development North and local office Place Lead in setting and agreeing appropriate growth targets and plans.
  • Liaise with public and private sector clients, local statutory and regulatory authorities ensuring client satisfaction is met.
  • Providing technical advice to clients and managing their development requirements.
  • Exhibiting and demonstrating behaviours and attitudes in accordance with ore values.
  • Working closely with other colleagues to ensure coordination across the Development discipline and sharing of market intelligence, best practice and innovation.
  • Leading and supporting bids by contributing reviewing and authorising submissions and by demonstrating added value both commercially and technically.
  • Acting as Project Director for major projects and strategically important commissions.
  • Supporting all aspects associated with H&S / Corporate Responsibility and ensure the team complies with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) .

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree level qualification in transport planning or civil engineering
  • Chartered status
  • Strong commercial and strategic capability with a demonstrable track record in having identified and subsequently delivered new business opportunities.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with good leadership and management abilities capable of communicating effectively with all parts of the business.
  • Proven track record of work winning.
  • A broad range of project experience across either transport planning or civil design for developments.
