We have an opening for a skilled Associate Civil Engineer to join our clients Manchester office. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an award winning Civil & Structural Design consultancy. You’ll be joining a well-established team of talented Engineers and working as a part of a team of 40.
Our client offers a full range of urban engineering services, taking projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction. From advice on large scale masterplans to public realm interventions and the spaces between buildings.
Additionally, they provide detailed design for below ground drainage - including all technical discussions with water authorities for new connections, diversions and building over agreements - detailed external works, public realm, highways design and transport planning services.

The role
- The ideal Engineer must be technically strong and passionate with some experience in leading a small team of Engineers.
- You will be producing high quality technical design on a range of refurbishments, new builds across a wide range of sectors.
- Managing the delivery of multidisciplinary projects, balancing demands and priorities, whilst reviewing civil infrastructure design, from project proposition through to construction.
- Plan project resources and finances and monitor job financial performance.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports, specification and schedules.
What you need to succeed
- 7+ years of experience in Civil Engineering design consultancy
- To be Chartered ideally or nearing Chartership with the ICE.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Experience of developing SuDs strategies for major developments
- Experience in the design of below ground drainage systems and SuDs elements for building, highways, and public realm.
- Experience of successful international multidisciplinary project delivery; demonstrating both the ability to manage and motivate the team, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A willingness to travel, and desire to lead continuous quality improvement in our work.
- Experience of design in flood mitigation and developing sites in Flood Zone 3 would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of design softwares including Windes (Microdrainage), Civil 3D and use of BIM.
- Experience in managing a small team of engineers.
