We are working in partnership with a well known design consultancy who are seeking a skilled Structural Technician to join their Derby office. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a respected, multi‑disciplinary consultancy delivering high‑quality structural designs across a varied project portfolio.
About the role
You will support engineers in preparing detailed structural drawings, models, and documentation for building structures projects. You’ll work collaboratively across the structural engineering team, helping deliver coordinated and accurate design information across multiple sectors including commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and residential.
Responsibilities
- Prepare high‑quality structural drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit
- Produce general arrangements, reinforcement details, and fabrication‑ready outputs
- Work closely with structural engineers to accurately interpret design requirements
- Assist with BIM workflows and model coordination
- Support the preparation of schedules, design updates, and technical documents
- Ensure drawing outputs meet internal QA standards and project deadlines
- Liaise with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
About

Essential:
- Experience as a Structural or Civil/Structural Technician in consultancy
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of building structures detailing (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
Desirable:
- Revit experience or willingness to develop strong BIM skills
- Knowledge of RC detailing and reinforcement scheduling
- Familiarity with BS/EU codes and industry standards
- ONC/HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar discipline
